About ACFO
ACFO has been working hard for fleet operators since the early 1970s. We have a long history of supporting organisations who use cars and vans in their everyday business activities, and the individuals who manage the vehicles in use.
Our main purpose is simple - to help fleet operators to improve the quality and cost-effectiveness of their business travel operation. Over many years we have developed as a membership body, and ACFO is now recognised as the leading organisation representing fleet operators in the UK.
Our target market is any business or organisation that uses cars or vans to provide business travel. Generally that means "company cars or vans" in the conventional sense, but in the world of today there are many options now available to organisations to deal with their varying demands for business travel by motor vehicle. For many operators, the majority of business travel might actually be done in employees' own cars - the so-called "grey fleet".
Other options include "cash allowance" arrangements and Employee Car Ownership Schemes (ECOS), all designed to provide the best combination of overall cost, ease of operation, cash flow and taxation to the employer. We already have organisations using all of these in various permutations within the ACFO membership.
The biggest benefit of ACFO membership is the ready availability of a wealth of knowledge about all types of fleet and business travel. It is a fact that while fleet managers know about their own fleet, they probably have limited experience of different ways to do things - select suppliers, manage Duty of Care, evaluate different funding methods and the like.
